The intimacy in Lee Jeffries’ work is breathtaking. The artist biography on his website is a very good read.

Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIANight scene at KLCC, Petronas Twin Towers. From my New Year’s Malaysia trip. I borrowed a Nikon D7000 from my trusted Andrew Holian to try the “dark side” (I’m a Canon user) and he also gave me a 11-16mm wide angle lens on my way. Now, personally, I’ve always found wide angle lenses very hard to use, but something magic happened and I ended up using that lens almost exclusively on my trip, totally contradicting my previous experiences. Never take things for granted folks, haha ;)After training my eye a bit for the lens and getting a feeling for it, I knew there was a shot in front of me when I saw the taxi driver getting out of his cab and smoking a cigarette. I used the ninja skills I’ve learned here in Japan and jump-sneaked up on him to take this shot. Believe me, I was very close. Unfortunately I couldn’t get one in which you see him actually smoking. Too bad, I have a thing for smoking people.Ended up using this shot for my recent Tokyo exhibition as a 350x230cm print.www.7188photography.com
